explorations in memory and the uncanny

Los Angeles, California
UCLA Summer Studio, 2018

Questioning boundary. With Rudolph Schindler’s Kings Road House as muse, the passage of time is explored through the fragmentation of the space’s past, present and future uses. Greater than the sum of its’ parts, the house balances preservation of the space as historical landmark with public use, and courts an amalgamation of future opportunities.
The future possibilities of the house are presented as the uncanny version of the space - recognizable, yet different. The realities are coupled through a porous threshold - the space where past, present and future are blurred.
